Abstract

Abstract

The objective of Volume II is to show how asymptotic methods, with the thickness as the small parameter, indeed provide a powerful means of justifying two-dimensional plate theories. More specifically, without any recourse to any a priori assumptions of a geometrical or mechanical nature, it is shown that in the linear case, the three-dimensional displacements, once properly scaled, converge in H1 towards a limit that satisfies the well-known two-dimensional equations of the linear Kirchhoff-Love theory; the convergence of stress is also established. Abstract

L'analyse des structures et milieux continus, discipline fondamentale pour l'ingénieur, intervient tant dans la conception d'un ouvrage que dans son calcul détaillé. Faisant suite au volume 1, Statique appliquée, la Mécanique des structures, matière riche et féconde, conduit au dimensionnementdes éléments structuraux. Pour construire, l'ingénieur doit posséder une connaissance aiguë despropriétés mécaniques des matériaux, du jeu des contraintes internes, de la déformation de la matière, de la sécurité et des dangers attachés à certaines sollicitations. Ces notions sont présentées dans ce livre sur la base des structures en barres, poutres et câbles avant tout, en se limitant à l'essentiel et au concret. Assorti de nombreux exercices, ce livre s'adresse aux étudiants du premier cycle universitaire ainsi qu'aux ingénieurs praticiens. Il constitue le deuxième volet d'une série d'ouvrages consacrés à l'analyse des structures et mileux continus.
